OH MY GOODNESS. Where do I start?!
A quick preface, I met Courtney + Chad a year ago for fall photos at their new home with their cute as-can-be pup, Miss Millie. I'm so glad Courtney found me! She messaged me over the summer with the exciting news of their engagement! I could not wait to celebrate their love for one another! The beginning of September rolled around quickly, and our session called for rain, lots + lots of rain. With many prayers, anti-rain dances, and a close watch of the radar. The time came. The clouds began to roll away. Opening the sky with the most stunning sunset. The rest was pure *magic*.
Courtney + Chad's engagement session was on Courtney's family farm. The farm has been passed down through generations and has grown quite a bit from its original size.
When I arrived I was greeted with the warmest of welcomes from Courtney's sweet-as-can-be parents and their extra-toed kitty, Toby. I was told stories of their pet pig, and it's adventures indoors. How they would raise a few of their baby cows in their laundry room, and how those sweet calves have now grown to be family. Before we headed out for the evening, Courtney's mom handed me a dozen of the most delicious eggs. (Side note: if anyone ever has too many eggs, I'm your girl, and if you see my husband put in a good word for chickens. Please + Thank you)
Chad drove us through the gates of the family farm while Courtney shared family stories and one hilarious story involving the trees at the first stop of the evening. We stopped on the road where the trees arched over, and the sun was starting to slip through the branches. The trees and road were glowing in gold. It was stunning. Courtney took Chad out of his comfort zone as the posing began. His eyes were filled with so much love for her, that he couldn't say no. It was so pure and natural the way they worked together.
We hopped back into Chad's truck and went through another gate as Courtney told me of her plans for their wedding. It will be a beautiful ceremony. I won't share details as that is theirs to share. I just know it will be a day filled with love + meaning. Courtney wanted some photos done in front of their cows and was hoping there were still a few in the pasture we drove up to. Luck was truly on her side that evening. We snuck up and quietly grabbed a couple of beautiful shots before they started to wander along. As we were walking back to the truck the lighting was hitting too perfectly. I asked if they wanted some in front of Chad's truck. (I know how guys can be.) She wasn't too for it but didn't hesitate after Chad's face lit up with excitement.
We pulled up to the final destination of the evening. The view was breathtaking. It would stop you in your tracks. Sharp Top + Flat Top resting above the tree line. Those beautiful blues are always stunning. We laughed, they danced, and Courtney found out again how much of a view there is on Chad's shoulders, I probably should have brought a step ladder, and next time I promise I'll remind you guys to stretch it out beforehand haha Courtney's mom arrived with Miss Millie at the end to get in on the celebration. She was such a good girl. Millie may have thought her mom's ring was a treat. We got a cute photo out of it and turned her into the princess that she is.
As we were about to leave the blue mountains, the sky was still as breathtaking. Chad commented on taking the time to stop and enjoy the views around you. If those aren't the truest words, I don't know what is. They took turns closing the gates as we drove back to Courtney's parent's house. They are truly a team. We talked more about their upcoming wedding. Seriously, it's going to be stunning. We had a blast and the evening couldn't have gone any more perfectly. Courtney + Chad are too perfect, the love between them runs deep and I know the years to come will treat them well. Until next time... It has always been a good time with these two (& Millie makes three).
